An evening walk almost turned deadly for a 74 year old Florida woman and her dog, but she fought back to protect them. Suzan Marciano was walking her pup, Nalu, at a park near Boca Raton when the dog ran into a lake, where a six-foot gator was lurking in the water.
Suzan breaks it down for the Palm Beach Post.
That gator charged out of the water and snatched Nalu!
Suzan says "I wasn't thinking. I did the only thing I could do. I came down on the alligator with all my weight." It worked and the reptile let go of the dog, but it turned and bit Suzan on the hand. "Providence must have been with me. It was all one big blur. I was in such shock. I didn't feel any pain."
She and Nalu were able to escape and both were treated for their injuries. Marciano had her hand stitched up at a local hospital and Nalu had surgery at the vet to treat puncture wounds to the stomach and leg. They’re both fine now but Suzan says neither of them want to walk to that park anymore. .
