Grandma Enters Powerlifting Competition

A few years ago, 78-year-old Linda Patterson had a car accident and then had her knees replaced, leaving her weak. Her trainer, Derrick Williams, says her first test when she started training was to just get down onto the floor and get back up and she couldn’t do it. Now, after years of training, she’s brought herself to a new level with her strength conditioning.

Friday, Patterson will compete in the Masters 4 category at the Natural Athlete Strength Association Summer Nationals in Roswell, New Mexico in the squat, bench press, and deadlift. She’d like to be an inspiration to others, saying “I would like for people to feel like they could do it, and that it’s great for your mind and your body.”
