The beverage company announced it wants to make Coke Zero taste more like the original Coke recipe. The company says the existing ingredients will be “optimized.” The can is also getting a makeover. It will be all red instead of red and black.
As Fortune reports there won't be any new ingredients just a different amount of each. Coca Cola has been very hesitant to change formulas since the debacle of the 1985 New Coke roll out. But Coke has been forced to make a change as they have seen Pepsi Zero Sugar continue to take their customers.
Coca-Cola is focusing on its trademark products after discontinuing struggling brands. CEO James Quincey said they want to get more people interested in Coke Zero Sugar as it still makes up a small percentage of all sales.
