The Arco AM-PM outside of Los Angeles was informed by state lottery officials that they sold a ticket that was a 26 million dollar winner. That happened on November 14th 2020. When no one claimed the prize the manager of the store went through his security footage to see who won. The only ticket sold in a 10 minute window when officials said it was sold, went to a regular who is a woman in her mid 40's. The manager told her to check her ticket. She said she had seen the sign hanging in the store that they had sold a winner and she had been afraid it was hers.
The reason she was afraid was because she had accidently left the ticket in her pocket and washed it that night. That ticket was destroyed. No one else came forth before the deadline which was yesterday. California gets the unclaimed money and she gets the heartache of what could of been. By the way California has received over a billion in unclaimed lottery winnings!
