Mike Wimmer of Salisbury NC is getting ready for a huge week. He will graduate from Concord Academy High School on May 28th - where he’s valedictorian and has a 5.45 GPA!
But the reason we're celebrating Mike isn't just that major accomplishment. He will also graduate from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College on May 21st with a 4.0 GPA! If that wasn't enough Mike is doing all of this before becoming a teenager. He'll turn 13 this Fall.
If he wasn't busy enough earning 2 diplomas at the same time, Mike has also launched two companies. Reflect Social, to help simplify how smart home technology works and Next Era Innovations which builds robots. He also got his first job, at age 10 when he landed a position with the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) in July 2019.
He’s now weighing his options for the future, which include job offers in and out of the U.S., or going to other universities including offers from MIT, Harvard and Stanford, or accept a fellowship that will help grow his startups.
He also wants people to know that he still makes time for kid stuff, like building Legos. “A lot of people think I've given up my childhood or somehow lost it,” he says, “and I say to them that I'm having the time of my life.”
