2020 was a difficult year and sent more of us to therapists than ever before according to this survey. One out of six Americans sought therapy for the first time in 2020.
That is in addition to the 31% of people who either continued or returned to therapy.
Of those people seeking help, 15% started taking medication for their mental health for the first time in 2020
The survey also noted the months that people struggled the most, with April and May being the worst (15%), followed by
- March (13%)
- June (9%)
- December (8%)
- The poll also found that only 27% of people have never been to a therapist in their life.
