Christopher Walken is a legendary actor who has been a star for decades. During a Zoom interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he said, “Somebody had to come and set this up because I don’t have a cellphone or a computer.”
After Stephen Colbert – and the rest of us – picked our metaphorical jaws, he asked Walken if he was “morally, philosophically, emotionally opposed” to technological devices. Walken told him that since he never got involved it, he felt like he’s too old to start now. After all, he said, “It would be strange to have any ten-year-old be better at it than I am.” He admitted that he’s never sent an email or text, and he’s never been on Twitter or any social media.
Walken went on to compare cell phones to watches – “If you need one, somebody else has got it.” When he’s filming, the production usually gives him a phone so they can find him. “If I ever want to use it, someone has to dial it for me,” he notes.
