A new survey of 2,000 parents with kids between three and 12 finds:
- Children aged three to five were most likely introduced to smart phones and tablets by age two.
- Those aged six to 12 were first introduced by age three.
- The average parent believes their child will surpass their own tech skills by the fourth grade, which is around the age of 10.
- 85% of parents are impressed with how quickly their child picks up new tech.
- 82% of parents are convinced their child will be open to more opportunities because they grew up with technology.
- For this reason, 78% think it’s important kids are introduced to technology at a young age.
- And the age at which kids are introduced to tech continues to get younger and younger.
And parents think technology can help their kids through many aspects in life.
- 88% of parents believe it’s important that their children be proficient with tech.
- 87% believe it will help shape who their child becomes.
- 48% say it will further their kid’s education.
- 47% believe it will help them in their career paths.
- Half think it will be a source to find creative outlets.
- 85% believe tech allows their kid to be creative in new and different ways.
- 85% also believe outlets for creative expression are key to child development.
