A Canadian woman has spent the last 21 years collecting bottles and cans around Vancouver and she donates all the money she gets from them. Gia Tran gives small donations pretty much every single weekday to the B.C. Cancer Foundation and she always does it with a smile on her face.
The 62-year-old woman only brings in a small amount of cash at a time, but she’s been at it for more than two decades, so foundation staff estimates Tran has donated about $21,000 over the years. Her family would love to see her slow down, but she says making people happy makes her happy too.
Sarah Roth, chief executive of the B.C. Cancer Foundation, says Tran's visits are a daily highlight. “She’s just here because of the kindness of her heart,” she explains. “And then that spills into our whole office and it makes everybody smile and it makes everyone feel good.”
