When 13-year-old Karson Vega noticed the school bus driver driving erratically on the way home one day last week, he knew something was wrong and jumped up to help. Karson who attends La Grange Middle school in Texas, immediately called 911, then got in the drivers lap and turned on the bus flashers and drove the bus 2 miles till he found a place to safely pull it off the side of the road.
The driver is believed to have been suffering a diabetic seizure and could have died without medical attention, was taken to the hospital and is expected to be fine. All of the students were fine, thanks to the Karson's quick reaction gave him a hero's applause after he parked the bus.
The crazy part is, Karson wasn’t even supposed to be on that bus that afternoon. He doesn’t usually ride the school bus home, but his mom couldn’t pick him up that day. “There was a reason,” his mother says, “he was on that bus that day.”
