Ed Johnson became a widower in April 2016 when his wife of 59 years passed away. Since then he goes to Whataburger in El Paso TX most days because the employees make him feel wanted.
The employees know his regular order and start fixing it when they see him pull up. And they enjoy his company as much as he enjoys theirs, so the manager planned a surprise 80th birthday party for their most dedicated customer, complete with a cake that read, “Happy Birthday Mr. Johnson, customer #1.”
"I consider every one of these guys a member of the family,” Johnson says. “I'm just little ole me. I don't deserve this. All I do is eat some biscuits, but I'm beyond grateful for everyone.”
