New kids toys may be snooping on them warns FBI

The FBI is warning parents about privacy risks from toys connected to the Internet. So-called "smart" toys can contain sensors, microphones, cameras, data storage, and even GPS or speech recognition technology that could disclose personal information.

The agency explains that in some cases, toys with microphones could collect conversations and potentially share information like a child's name, school, and activities.

In February, Germany banned sales and ownership of a talking doll named Cayla made by U.S. company Genesis Toys, citing the risk of hacking associated with the toy.
