April Bolt left her purse in her husband's boat at a dock on Lake Hartwell in 1992 as they joined her parents for dinner. While they were away, her purse was stolen.
She tells Fox Carolina; "I was devastated! I knew it was going to be a lot of work trying to cancel all my credit cards and license. The main thing was my little boy was 15 months old and all his pictures were in there."
Flash forward to today. A man named Ben Myers is fishing with an 11 year old relative off that deck Lake Hartwell. The child is having trouble reeling in a big one! Ben gets the net to help. "I get my net and he gets it to the top of the water, all of a sudden I see it's a purse. I said 'man you ain't caught no fish, you caught a treasure!'"
That was the first surprise. The second was when they looked inside and found April's license. Ben is friends with her! Bolt said, aside from the cash, almost everything else was intact, including credit cards to stores that no longer exist and the her son's baby photos. Though they had significant water damage she said she is thrilled to have them back. "It's like a time capsule from 25 years ago with perfume and lipstick I no longer wear".
