Some manufacturing jobs are coming back to the US.
Samsung is planning to open its first U.S. appliance manufacturing plant in more than 30 years. The Korean electronics giant says the 380-million dollar South Carolina facility will set up shop in a former Caterpillar facility in Newberry. Samsung says 950 jobs will be generated over a three-year period when manufacturing gets underway early next year. When Caterpillar closed last year in Newberry and Ridgeway we lost 400 jobs.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, yesterday, called the announcement "great news." The news comes ahead of a two-day summit between President Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in today and Friday.
