SC Beach receives toy boat after 4 years at sea

posted by Kelly Nash -

A toy boat launched by a class of Florida fifth-graders has sailed at least 500 miles in four years.

The three-foot boat washed ashore a little south of Charleston at a South Carolina beach, according to a Facebook posting. Edisto Beach, South Carolina Police Chief George Brothers posted that the boat had a letter attached.

It read the boat was a class project from Summit-Questa Montessori School in Davie, Florida. They dropped the boat in just south of Fort Lauderdale. Chief Brothers says he called the school and told them of the discovery. The chief says he can't imagine where the boat has gone over the past four years.

This small boat washed up near beach access 24 this morning. The boat had a letter stating that it was a 5th grade...
