Tom Cruise is confirming that he's on board for the sequel to the 1986 film "Top Gun."
Cruise made the announcement during an interview with an Australian talk show. He said filming will likely start within the next year, adding "it's happening. It's definitely happening." "Top Gun" was the highest grossing film of 1986 and producer Jerry Bruckheimer has long wanted to make a sequel.
Meanwhile, another Cruise vehicle is taking shape. The planned Universal monster film series has a title. “Dark Universe” will begin with Tom Cruise in “The Mummy” with Johnny Depp as “The Invisible Man” and Javier Bardem tapped to be Frankenstein’s monster.
