For the first time in the history of France, no mainstream politician will become president. . Not only that, but no one candidate, out of 11, got over 50% of the vote. That’s why they'll have a run-off.
Former socialist turned Centrist Emmanuel Macron [[ MAH-kron ]] was dissatisfied with the party politics of his country so he started his own party last year! The On the move party was launched last April and yesterday won 24% of the vote. He will face off against far-right leader Marine Le Pen headed in a May 7th runoff for the French presidency. Le Pen is with the National Front party which has been around since 1972, but has never held top office. The two emerged atop an eleven-candidate field in Sunday's first round of balloting.
