Juaquin Guzman is a 62 year old grandfather. He's also known as the El Chapo the worlds biggest drug dealer. He was first arrested in 1993 after murdering a Cardinal. In a 3 month period in 2008 he murdered close to 400 people according to his wikipedia page.
He famously escaped from a "Maximum Security" Mexican prison by tunneling out in 2015.
In January of this year he was recaptured and extradited to NY. His lawyers believe he is suffering extreme and unusual punishment in that there wasn't a television for him to watch during his 1 hour exercise break. TMZ reports that officials attempting to accommodate El Chapo hung a TV and installed cable. However they installed the TV behind his favorite piece of equipment, the stationary bike.
His lawyers are now demanding that Amnesty International be allowed to inspect his living conditions. This is a group that according to it's site asks for donations to fight injustice and win human rights for all. If they're fight is down to better TV access for murderers then I guess it's safe to say they're work is done.
