A fight between the studio behind “Modern Family” and ABC is leaving the show’s future in double.
20th Century Fox Television has not begun negotiating the contracts of the stars, even though this season’s filming is a wrap.
In its eight season, the series may be down from its early years, but still it's ABC's top-rated show and primetime's No. 2 comedy behind “The Big Bang Theory,” whose future is also in doubt.
The stars are being paid $350,000 per episode plus share in the profits, which means the show doesn't distribute anywhere as much to the ABC coffers as much as other shows with far lower ratings.
