Jerry Greeff has been working with cars for over 40 years, but his days in the business are numbered. His wife is anxious for him to have more time to spend with her, so he tried selling his business, the One Stop Auto Shop in Baltimore.
But when they couldn’t find a buyer who would run it, despite profits of 2.5 million a year, the Greeffs decided to donate their whole business to a local nonprofit that specializes in auto mechanics, Vehicles for Change. The organization fixes up donated cars while teaching ex-offenders how to repair them.
Marty Schwartz, president of Vehicles for Change says the Greeffs donating their multimillion-dollar business is unbelievable and amazing. But for the retiring mechanic, it’s a win-win. Jerry didn’t want to close his business and now he doesn’t have to. And he says he’ll always be on call for them.
