We now have to make fat crash test dummies

Crash test dummies are now reflecting added weight gain by Americans.

Test dummies use to weigh 170 pounds, but Virginia's New Humanetecs company is producing a heavier crash dummy that weighs-in at 273 pounds. The company says offering a fatter dummy will help support the auto industry in their safety design efforts.

The School of Public Health at the University of California Berkeley reports 78-percent of obese drivers are more likely to be killed in a car crash than those with a normal weight.
