Video Of Mom Telling Son He Made The Major Leagues

Houston Astros prospect Cam Smith was shocked to see his family in the team locker room at their Spring Training facility in FL. He was packing up after his final spring training game to head off to Sugar Land to play for the AAA Space Cowboys. He had played 32 games for them last year and was hopeful that if he started hot there he might make the big league team in a month or 2.

His mother, stepfather, and grandmother walked up to his locker to tell him that he was heading to Houston to be in the big leagues for opening day against the Mets.

Cam jumps up to hug his mom while tears flow from the entire family and applause from his teammates.

Cam was drafted in the first round out of Florida State University and joined the Astros after being traded from the Cubs this offseason. The right fielder had an impressive spring training, and at 22 years old, he’s heading to the major leagues after playing only 32 games in the minors. His quick rise makes him one of the fastest players to reach the MLB level ever.

The heartwarming locker room moment was shared on social media, where it quickly went viral. Astros’ manager Joe Espada helped coordinate with Smith’s family to set up the touching surprise.
