Mail Delivery Woman Saves Kids From Dog Attack

Rungphet Bodnar was on her regular route driving by a school bus stop when she noticed kids beginning to run away. She saw a pit bull had clamped down on a girls' leg and was dragging her away. A grown woman was trying to stop the dog. While other vehicles passed Rungphet stopped her mail truck and ran over. According to the Detroit Free Press

"I grabbed my dog spray and started running toward the little girl". The first 2 sprays didn't seem to deter the dog but the 3rd did and he released the 8 year old. She called 9-11 while continuing to back the dog down who was growling and very aggressive. Police rushed the girl to the hospital where they thankfully could save her arm and leg which were both severely damaged. She was out of school for 6 weeks recovering.

The dog owner lived near the school bus stop and the dog would bark wildly at the kids walking to the stop. On this morning an open window in the house allowed the dog to jump out and attack. Police put that dog down and the owner arrested.

As for Rungphet she was awarded the National Association of Letter Carriers Hero of The Year and is going to DC to meet the President!
