On Wednesday's, Jackie Dennis, a special education teacher at Huron High School in Michigan, works with a group of students to make blankets for families of organ donors according to CBS News.
After giving birth in 2020, Dennis faced a severe health crisis that led to her receiving a double lung transplant. She later developed a close relationship with her donor’s family, sharing updates about her life and students to show the impact of their loved one's gift.
Dennis acknowledged the profound loss that comes with organ donation and wanted to give back by creating comfort blankets. She explained the situation to her special ed class the students all wanted to help.
One of the students, Riley Lambert, said Mrs Dennis is a very nice person and when she explained how these people saved her and there are other families who are doing this every day I think we were all excited to make something for them. .
