Americans Demand An End To Daylight Savings Time

A new Gallup poll, out just ahead of this weekend’s kickoff of daylight saving time. It finds people are over the practice of shifting their clocks back and forth for daylight saving time and the majority would rather stick with one system all year.

The survey shows that vast majority of us are ready to do away with the bi-annual time adjustment. Only 19% would prefer to keep it as is switching back and forth between the two

When asked to choose between two options, 76% say they want standard time year-round, even during the summer. 24% want to stick with daylight saving time all year, including the winter.

Gallup has asked Americans’ support for daylight saving time has dropped every year since 1999. Back in 1999, 73% were in favor of daylight saving time, and in 1990, 74% supported it.
