25% of Americans Admit To Doing This In The Shower

According to the survey of 2-thousand U.S. adults:

• Overall, 12% admit to peeing in the shower every single day, while another 13% do it a few times a week.
• Millennials are more likely to do it more often, with a quarter of those surveyed confessing that it’s a daily habit for them, compared to 13% of Gen X and just 6% of baby boomers.
• Nearly half (45%) of all respondents admit to peeing in the shower at some point during the course of the average year.
• Men are slightly more likely than women to do so, 30% of guys say they do it regularly, compared to 20% of women.
• The thing is, only 39% say they’re the sole user of their shower, as 41% share it with a partner and 18% share it with their kids.
• And the average American only cleans their shower nine times a year.
• Aside from peeing, people do some other activities in the shower, like singing (27%), planning for the day ahead (23%) and reflecting on the previous day (19%).
• Respondents believe the average shower should only take 13 minutes, while the average millennial thinks it should last for 17 minutes.

CNN interviewed some doctors about any dangers associated with urinating in the shower. "Urinating in the shower is unlikely to create any health problems, according to urologists" Dr. David Shusterman said some doctors used to think it was bad for women because standing does not allow pelvic floor muscles to relax. But he says in warm water you're relaxed enough. Dr. Karyn Eilber commented on any dangers of others urinating in the shower before you enter. “I wouldn’t worry about getting an infection from someone urinating in public bathing areas as much as any mold or fungus you’re stepping in". Dr Shusterman said the biggest danger in his opinion is developing a psychological association between the sound of running water and the urge to pee.
