Max Castro, works as a salesman at Blasius used cars of Attleboro MA was in the middle of writing up a sale for a 2017 RAM truck when he looked over the shoulder of his client, through the window and across the street. Max tells CBS News Boston "something just caught my eye".
What caught Max's eye was 4 kids aged 12 & 13 fell through the ice on Lee's Pond across the street. "The whole event probably took 2 seconds or less. If I had been writing instead of looking up at that moment I doubt I'd of even thought about it".
Max immediately yelled "call 9-11" and told his customers some kids just fell through the ice. He thought enough to grab some long snow brooms and his clients were right behind him grabbing some as well! They ran across the dealer lot then the 4 lanes of Route one to get to Lees pond.
The 4 kids were gasping trying to get out of the freezing water. Max and his 2 customers were able go out about waist deep and with their long brooms give the kids something to hold on to while they pulled them to shore.
Emergency services arrived just as the last kid was being pulled out. All 4 were rushed to the hospital. One of the kids dad's Alex Heng says he got a call from his son's cell phone about 3pm. "I was shocked to hear a voice say 'Mr Heng I'm with the Attleboro Fire Dept and want you to know your son is going to be OK but there's been an accident.' Of course I was freaking out but now I'm feeling great because God was up there, looking over them all."
Max has similar feelings. "I thank God for allowing me to see what was happening and to have such great customers who wanted to help".
