SC Bus Driver Saves Kids From House Fire

School bus driver Crystal Foster and monitor Joclyn Johnson work for Spartanburg County School District Six. WSPA-TV reports that last week they had just dropped off a student when they saw smoke coming from the child’s home. They told him to get back on the bus and called 911. His older sister was standing in the garage "bawling, frightened and paralyzed with fear.” Joclyn ran to the girl and convinced her to get on the bus, but she was screaming that the youngest brother was trapped inside the burning house.

Joclyn knew there was no time to wait for the fire trucks so she went into a part of the house that had not yet caught fire and screamed the boys name. He answered. She told him to follow her voice to escape. All 3 of the siblings hugged each other on the bus as their home burned.

“We are grateful for our transportation family every day, but this moment will be remembered as a true heroic route in history,” the district said. “Thank you to two incredible heroes who went above and beyond, driving home our district’s motto…’Where Children are Always First!'”
