According to the poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults:
- The average American would leave their current life behind and vacation anywhere on the planet if they had $287,731 in the bank.
- But some folks wouldn’t need nearly as much to make their worldwide travel dreams come true, as one in six (18%) would do it for less than $50-thousand.
- Age seems to be a factor in the amount needed to hit the road, with Gen Z being willing to go with $211-thousand, while boomers say they wouldn’t do it for less than $335-thousand.
- A third (32%) aim even higher, saying they’d need over $500-thousand.
- But 17% claim there’s no amount of money that would make them leave their life behind to travel.
The survey also asked how people would spend $1-million if they had to use it all for travel and found:
- People are pretty generous, as the number one answer is taking family or friends on a dream vacation (37%)
- “Road-tripping” across the country or in another country comes in second (24%)
- Exploring famous landmark, like the Eiffel Tower, is the third-most popular answer (21%)
- That’s closely followed by visiting historical sights and wonders of the world, like the Great Pyramids (19%)
- Building a “travel bucket list” and checking off every item comes in fifth (18%)
- The same number of people want to take frequent weekend getaways to new destinations (18%) and enjoy “slow traveling” where you spend months in each location (18%)
- That million-dollar budget would be spent on luxury accommodations for some travelers (17%)
- And some would use it to be able to volunteer or give back while traveling (12%)
