A frustrated mama took to TikTok to share the over-the-top rules party guests’ parents are supposed to follow for presents. “I don’t know about you guys, but birthday parties are really getting out of control,” shares the mom, who goes by Shay27xo on the site. She explains that her daughter was invited to another child’s party and days after they RSVPd, the mother of the birthday kid sent a text to all parents that said, “We have a strict rhetoric that we’d like you parents to follow when picking out gifts.”
So, what does that mean, exactly? That the child’s birthday presents should have “no colors,” and be “waste free,” and as if that’s not enough of a challenge, they also can’t make noise or be made of plastic. The TikTok mom says the birthday kid’s mom told parents if they couldn’t “abide by these stipulations” they should make her kid a homemade card, since even buying a card would produce waste.
After all the rules, the party guest’s mom admitted she didn’t even want her daughter to go to the party because she didn’t want to be the one who broke the gift rules.
When a commenter suggested her kid would “suddenly have a fever that day,” Shay27xo replied, “Exactly what we did!”
