She Was Grateful For A Little Now She Has A Lot.

Last week, on December 3rd British author Vicky Ball attended an authors’ event where she got to speak to some readers. Before the event she tweeted on X a picture of herself sitting behind a table where she had about 20 copies of her book for sale. A few hours later she retweeted that photo with an update. Sold 2 books :) Thankful because I've gone to events and not sold any.

Vicky typically received anywhere from 0 to 10 likes on most posts. She went to sleep and woke up to see that tweet had been reposted over 20,000 times and had a half million likes.

Vicky is currently a creative writing master's student at the University of Essex. She's also a part time high school English teacher. She's married with 2 kids in Suffolk. She wrote her first novel “Powerless” and self published during the pandemic in 2021. She is currently promoting her second book "Abandoned". Between the 2 she had sold less than 1000 copies.

In the 24 hours after her tweet she sold more copies than she had in 2 years. A few days later her preorders of the book had put her on the top of the Amazon bestsellers list. "Feel like I'm in some kind of weird crazy dream right now where lots of people have bought my books."

She says she doesn't have any major career plans as of yet. I'm so thankful for the book sales but I also love going to school, and my part time job. I just love my life!
