When you think of wealthiest folks, cab drivers won't appear too high on that list. But the BBC reports that drivers of the black taxis in London are now in their 30th year of incredible generosity. It started in the 1970's when a cabbie heard about a mom who didn't have the fare to go crosstown to visit her son in the Great Ormond Street Hospital for children. He drove over there and said if she ever needed a ride to call and ask for him any time day or night and he would take her free of charge. Other cabbies heard the story and universally agreed that they too would give anyone a free ride to and from the children's hospital.
That tradition took on another level in 1994 when the "Magical Taxi Tour," a three-day event that takes over 200 children with severe illnesses to Disneyland Paris.
The annual journey gives children and their families a break from hospital routines and a chance to enjoy the magic of Disneyland, supported by volunteer drivers who decorate their cabs and set off in a colorful 6 hour drive convoy to Paris.
The tour and the cabbies' acts of kindness have gained attention on social media, with videos of the event going viral and comments praising the drivers’ dedication to the heartwarming tradition. As these cabbies keep the tradition alive, they show how powerful small acts of kindness can be, bringing joy and comfort to families when they need it most.
