Two 10th Graders Discover Asteroid Moving Toward Earth. NASA Thanks Them

Radhika Lakhani and Vaidehi Vekariya are 14 year old 10th grade students in Surat India. The young ladies are in a project called Space India which partners with NASA, to inspire kids to become interested in the cosmos.

They discovered the asteroid using images taken by a telescope in Hawaii. They have been able to project it's path and say it will be heading towards earth!

There's no need to worry because you're not going to be here. The asteroid is currently circulating Mars but in 1.2 million years its orbit will change, moving it towards Earth.

NASA reviewed the girls research and confirmed that they are correct. NASA has temporarily named it HLV2514 and it just got a wikipedia page!
