Kip Moore: 'To The Black Community...I'm Sorry'

Kip Moore is sharing his thoughts about racial injustice as protests continue all over the country following the death of George Floyd. On Monday (June 2), the country star turned to social media to offer the black community an apology.

"To the black community...I’m Srry that you’ve screamed for so long about feeling oppressed and it’s fallin on deaf ears," he begins his statement. "I hear you, i see you, and I have nothing but love for you."

His statement continues on to address police officers doing their job "the right way." He says, "To the police officers all over... Im Srry that those of you doing the job the right way, always get lumped into the same category with the few doing it the wrong way. I’m thankful for you guys and know most of you have your heart in the right place. We should celebrate your bright days more."

As Moore starts to conclude his message, he turns to God. "To God, I’m Srry that we’ve been here this long and continue to be terrible to each other. I’m sure your vision for us looked drastically different," he adds. "I hope we can work towards changing this now...not tomorrow, but now. #onelove"

Moore is one of many celebrities and artists speaking out following the May 25 death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who was killed by police officer, Derek Chauvin, in Minneapolis. Darius Rucker, Tim McGraw, Kane Brown, Dan + Shay, Old Dominion and more have also expressed similar sentiments on social media.
