The box office was dark for the first time in nearly 30 years due to coronavirus. But thanks to all the streaming services we have to choose from, folks at home have still been watching movies over the weekend.
We have the list of the most-watched movies this weekend on video-on-demand, Netflix, and Hulu. Here’s the rundown:
Some of the more recent major films are getting early home releases. Before hitting Disney-Plus next week, Pixar’s “Onward” is already leading rental sales, followed by Vin Diesel’s “Bloodshot,” “Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker,” “Birds of Prey,”Matthew McConaughey’s “The Gentlemen,” and Ben Affleck’s “The Way Back”
When it comes to Hulu, the streaming service’s most popular movie is “Big Time Adolescence,” the coming-of-age film starring Pete Davidson.
On Netflix, Mark Wahlberg’s “Spenser Confidential” was on top for weeks… but this weekend, it fell to the third spot. Now, a Spanish film called “The Platform” is number one, followed by Mel Gibson’s 2016 film “Blood Father.”
But by far the most watched show was the 7 part series on Netflix "Tiger King"
