Restaurant workers across the country are struggling now that many of them have temporarily closed their dining rooms due to coronavirus concerns, but the head of one chain is stepping up to help his staff. Texas Roadhouse CEO and founder Kent Taylor has announced that he’ll give up his pay for the rest of the year so the money can go to “front-line hourly restaurant employees.”
In case you're wondering Kent's salary is $525,000 per year. Last year he was paid another $775,000 in bonuses! It's doubtful that an restaurants are going to hit bonuses this year, but they probably all deserve them more than ever!
The steakhouse chain exec is waiving his salary and bonus from March 18th, 2020 to January 7th, 2021. In a statement on the Texas Roadhouse website Taylor says, “As the President and other officials have stated, restaurants play a vital role in our nation’s food supply, and we are going to help fill the gap where and how we can.”
