WREG TV reports that a housekeeper at a Tennessee Holiday Inn is being called a hero for helping a guest who was allegedly being held hostage. The maid was working at a Holiday Inn Express in Shelby County and told deputies she heard a woman screaming for help from a room. She knocked and then the screams became muffled -like someone had their hand over her mouth - so the housekeeper called 911.
When deputies arrived, they arrested 35 year old Nicholas Floyd from Nashville after they found that he had stolen the victims phone and wouldn’t let her leave the room. He also had meth laced with fentanyl, as well as a knife. He was charged with domestic assault and false imprisonment along with possession of a narcotic.
Victim advocate Gwen Turner says the housekeeper’s actions "could have saved the woman’s life". "People don’t always feel comfortable, even if they see something, they’re like, 'Well, you know, maybe that’s the way they communicate'". Gwen goes on to say "call the authorities if you hear screaming!" It's better to be over cautious in matters like this.
