Jeff Lanham thought he had a brilliant idea. He owns Hog Rock Café in MilanHog Rock Café in Milan Ohio. That's just west of Cleveland so it's in the heart of Browns country. But Jeff is a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals. His place is a meeting spot for Bengals fans and Browns fans come in too to argue football. Neither team has been good this year, but the Bengals are historically bad. After losing their first 5 games of the season Jeff had his big idea. "I'll live on the roof till they win a game"!
The Ravens and Jaguars were the next 2 teams on the schedule and both were considered extremely winable games. They lost both. Now they've lost 3 more. That's 6 weeks he's been on the roof! 23 hours a day/7 days a week.He lives in a 12-foot by 10-foot rooftop tent. He has had to shovel the snow outside his tent after 3 different storms. Meals are brought up by his employees and his wife stops by for a visit every day. He's equipped with a heater, snacks, a cot, a sleeping bag, and a flat-screen TV, so he can watch his Bengals continue his misery.
Lanham says he only leaves the roof to shower. The good news is that the Bengals have a 9% chance of finishing the season winless. Since 1944 only 5 teams have gone an entire season without a win. But Jeff should have been wary as the last one to do it was the 2017 Browns team!
Lanham said, "I really expected 2-3 weeks tops. I figured it would get some local media attention and help business. But now, I'm so ready to come down, it's miserable up here. I never want anyone to be able to say that I wasn't a man of my word. 2 of the last 5 games are against the Browns. If we lose both and I'm stuck up here being mocked by their fans....well it's hard to imagine anything worse than that"!
