Pat Sajak is recovering from an he had emergency surgery for a blocked intestine last week. “Wheel of Fortune” canceled its Thursday taping because of Sajak’s condition. When taping resumed Friday, Vanna White had stepped in to host. This was Vanna's first time hosting the show in over 7000 appearances. She did host the final segment of a show in 1996 when Pat had to leave after laryngitis brought him down halfway through the show.
Pat will be out for the next two weeks. “Wheel” is currently filming Disney Week at their Los Angeles studio and Mickey Mouse will take Vanna’s place for now.
For the record, Sajak and White have been hosting and turning letters, respectively, on the longest running syndicated game show since 1982. This episode will air December 9th.
