Police rescue man who was attempting to move from IL to KY on log

It appears that a man from Illinois tried to channel his inner Huckleberry Finn by hopping on a log and cruising down the Mississippi River.

Police in Rock Island, Illinois posted the story on their Facebook page that they received a call Monday afternoon that a man was seen floating down the Mississippi River on a giant log. Police notified the fire department and they had to send out a rescue boat to try and save the man.

Fortunately for the guy, they were able to pull him into the rescue boat. When authorities asked why he was floating down the river on a log, he told them that he was relocating from Illinois to Kentucky and thought it would be less expensive and easier if he just took a log to his destination.

The fire department dropped him off on the shore and they say he was, quote, "strongly encouraged to make other transportation arrangements."
