SC Boy Uses His Birthday Money To Help Dorian Evacuees

Jermaine Bell is turning 7 on 9/8. His parents had been telling him to save his money so he would have something to buy souvenirs on his dream vacation to Disney World. But Jermaine had better use for that money when he saw people fleeing the coast for shelters near his home on Highway 125 in Allendale. He thought about the people who were probably scared about sleeping in a shelter and worried that their home may be destroyed. So he took all of his money and with his folks help bought hot dogs, chips and water to give to evacuees as they drove by his home. He made some signs set up a table in the yard and so far he's fed around 100 people!

When asked what motivated him to do this Jermaine said “I wanted to be generous and live to give”. Jermaine is also a follower of Jesus so he asks families if he can pray for them. His Grandmother Aretha Grant was so impressed when she saw that. "He actually prayed for a family while they were here in reference to their house being okay when they got back, so that was really tear dropping”!

Trading your Disney dreams to help evacuees is a very mature thing to do. But as Jermaine reminds us "I'm almost 7 you know".
