Brothers save 6 year old as she was being washed out to sea

While on a trip to Ireland to honor their grandfather, who recently passed away, three brothers from Virginia saved a six-year-old girl who was carried out to sea from a Dublin beach.Walter Butler,21, and 18-year-old twins Eoghan and Declan, along with their brother-in-law Alex Thomson, were at Portmarnock Beach when they saw the little girl on a pink flamingo floaty get swept away by the strong current.

Her father yelled for help, so the Butlers and Thomson swam out to assist after no lifeguards came to help. She had drifted about a mile from shore and it took almost an hour for them to rescue her and her dad, who was trying to help her, but ended up needing to be saved himself.

Thankfully, Walter is a former rescue swimmer with the U.S. Coast Guard, so she was in good hands. They got her safely back to the beach and aside from being “a nervous wreck,” she wasn’t hurt by the scary experience. The next day, the little girl and her family came to visit her heroes and brought them chocolates to thank them.
