They say one man’s trash is another’s treasure, and that was definitely the case for Bryan Cureington. The 35-year-old from Monroe, Louisiana says one of his family members threw out a Make My Year lottery ticket, thinking it was a loser, but Cureington thought to check it again and it’s a good thing he did.
That trashed ticket turned out to be a $200-thousand top prize winner, according to the Louisiana Lottery. After taxes, Cureington will take home $142,000 in winnings that were almost lost in the garbage forever.
