Girl sells lemonade to help Mom get a transplant

posted by Kelly Nash -

Lots of kids have lemonade stands, but they’re usually trying to earn money to buy a new toy or video game. That’s not the case for Nemiah Martinez, this 11-year-old from New Mexico has a much bigger goal for her lemonade stand money: to pay for her mom’s life-saving kidney and pancreas transplants.

Every Saturday, Nemiah opens her stand with three different flavors of lemonade for sale. She was doing well, but last week the local Fox news affiliate ran a story and over the weekend ABC News ran a piece and has helped shine the spotlight on her cause and now customers are pouring in. A GoFundMe page started by the little girl has also raised $4,461 as of this morning and donations are still coming. If you'd like to donate here's the link

When 11-year-old Nemiah Martinez found out her mom needed a kidney and pancreas treatment, she started a lemonade stand to help pay for her to get treatment at the Mayo Clinic. To date, she’s raised $1,100. “I just try to do the best I can do for her.”
