The Uptown Candy Store recently had it's Grand Opening in Riverside, California.
Connor Smith and his young son Charlie wanted to see it for themselves. Unfortunately they were sidetracked by some other errands and by the time they arrived the store was dark. Charlie said maybe it's still open. Connor grabbed the handle to prove to the boy it was closed and amazingly the door opened. Charlie was happy, but his dad said this is a problem. Someone forgot to lock this door he explained. As KTLA CBS News LA explains Connor then told Charlie we have to guard this door and try and find security to handle this. The walked to a neighboring business and got the number of the security team that guards the strip mall they returned to the candy store and stood guard till security arrived. Then they left.
The store owner, Donia Farraj, says they never asked for anything. I didn't even know who they were. "They just walked off like nothing happened. As if they didn't just save my business that night."
Donna wanted to thank them, Farraj posted the footage on social media to help identify the good Samaritans. I figured TikTok finds the bad guys really fast, so let's see how long it takes them to find the good guy."
To show her gratitude, the owner has invited Smith and his son back to the store for a candy shopping spree. The family has accepted the gesture, marking a sweet ending to a thoughtful act.
