Connor Shaw Thanks Those Who Saved His Life And Pledges To Save Others

33 year old former Gamecock quarterback Connor Shaw posted an emotional video Wednesday discussing how he almost died from a sudden cardiac arrest while coaching his son’s flag football game. An off duty cop and off duty firefighter rushed to perform CPR. for 5 minutes before someone could get an automated external defibrillator (AED). Without those 2 things Connor would have been like 90% of people who suffer that condition which is to never regain consciousness. Only 10% survive and it's because people know CPR and have access to AED's.

Connor thanked everyone from those who took care of his 3 kids so his wife would stay with him on the way to the hospital, the Doctors and nurses, the people who prayed for him, the folks who started the meal train to their home and wrapped it up talking about how they all gave him hope. That it's easy to fall into the trap of focusing on all the bad in the world but these people reminded him of how much good there is.

Connor adds that he feels convicted to do something to help others survive Sudden Cardiac Arrest so he is launching Heart Huddle. The goal is to encourage people to get CPR training and provide AED's at athletic fields throughout South Carolina. He said the launch would come at a tailgate party before the Clemson game at Williams-Brice where everyone will be invited to join him there.
