Attentive Bank Teller Saves Elderly Man

CBS 6 Albany reports that Paige Angrisano was working last week at Community Resource Federal Credit Union when an elderly man began attempting to empty his bank account. Paige found that a bit unusual and asked why he would want to do that. He said he had discovered that the account was being accessed by scammers who had already began draining the account. She looked at his account and noted the only withdrawls had been his usual payments via checks to utilities, his church etc. She then asked for his permission to call police if he was afraid he was being robbed.

"The elderly gentleman tried to call Microsoft’s helpline earlier in the day and he dialed into a number which was not actually Microsoft,” said Anthony Sidoti, Deputy Chief of the Colonie Police Department. “Through the course of the day, they convinced him that his accounts had been compromised. Then the investigators took over, posed as the victim and stayed on the phone with the scammers for hours before arranging a meeting. When they came to the man’s home to collect the cash, officers were waiting. They arrested Huifeng Jin, 43, and Qinghua Wang, 34 both of Flushing NY.
