22 Year Old Saves Flood Victim In Heroic Fashion

A dramatic rescue took place in Harrison County, Tennessee, last week, when 22-year-old Troy Plemons saved a woman from a sinking car. The Electric Power Board of Chattanooga employee was traveling between job sites when he spotted the woman’s SUV quickly filling with floodwater. At first, he and other rescuers tried to use a rope to save the driver, but when that didn’t work, Plemons’ instincts pushed him to act.

WRCB-TV reports that Troy grabbed a big rock jumped into the water, swam out to her SUV and smashed the back window as the front was already partially submerged, and then pulled her out. 30 seconds later the SUV was completely submerged. He then had her rest inside his work truck to dry off and regain her composure, while he and other bystanders helped other stranded drivers.

The woman was later reunited with her husband and Plemons says her gratitude was clear. He adds that her son later reached out to personally thank him for his bravery. Reflecting on the experience, Troy says he thanks God for using him in this situation.
