Atlanta Airport About To Get Major TSA Upgrade

Clear, which is an identity-verification company, is rolling out biometric eGates at airports in Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Seattle to speed up the TSA checkpoint process in a new pilot program. I believe from their site it appears to be about $300 for the service.

Travelers with Clear Plus scan their boarding pass and use facial recognition to go straight to screening, bypassing the need for a Clear representative to escort them. A Clear spokeswoman said the program “works in cooperation with TSA’s system to create a seamless and secure checkpoint experience.” TSA retains full control over the gates and security vetting, while Clear cannot override any TSA decisions. The company plans to expand eGates nationwide ahead of the World Cup and other major events. TSA is also using biometric tech to speed up the regular lines for certain airlines at select airports.
