10,000 Steps A Day Lead To A Very Nice Unexpected Benefit

ZipHealth surveyed 1,000 U.S. adults and analyzed their fitness tracker data to find out how regular physical activity affects libido and sexual satisfaction and the results may get you moving.

The study finds that people who walked over 10-thousand steps every day reported significantly higher sexual satisfaction.

  • This is true across generations, including 67% of Gen X and 59% of baby boomers.
  • It could help lead to more sex, too, as Gen Xers who hit more than 10-thousand steps report having an average of seven sexual encounters a month, compared to just two for those who log less than 2-thousand steps.
  • In general, people who are physically active are 76% more likely to report higher sexual satisfaction than their sedentary counterparts.
  • The study also highlights how being out of shape can have a negative impact on sex lives, with 32% of those who are unhappy with their appearance or feel out of shape admitting to avoiding sex.
  • On the flip side, 70% who work out say they’ve felt a boost in sexual confidence as a result.
  • More than half of Gen X (58%) and baby boomers (51%) say they felt more confident initiating sex on days they’ve worked out.
  • And nearly two-thirds of Gen Z (65%) and millennials (64%) felt more in the mood after hitting the gym or doing some other form of exercise.
  • Cardio tops the list of workouts that empower people to feel better about sex, as 50% report it gives them better bedroom endurance.
  • Core strength was second (49%), followed by flexibility and mobility exercises (46%).
